Confident that strengthening of sports development could pave way for Mindanao to attain peace and harmony, Philippine Sports Commission Honorable Chairman William I. Ramirez presides over the Mindanao Sports Summit 2008.

The event was hosted by the province of Lanao del Norte Governor, Honorable Mohamad Khalid Q. Dimaporo. The two-day summit held at Mindanao Civic Center, Tubod Lanao del Norte last July 3-4, 2008 was attended by sports leaders from various local government units.

Among the highlights during the discussion are the revival of the sports for peace program “Mindanao Friendship Games”, establishment of Standing Committees which aimed to engage the MFG participating Local Government Units in specific areas of the organization of the event and launching of Mindanao Sports Council.

PSC Mindanao Satellite Office Head Mr. Joseph Encabo said that this year’s Mindanao Friendship Games on November 10 to 15 to be held at Tubod, Lanao del Norte will highlight 10 focus sports.
