Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman William Ramirez announced on Tuesday that the government will build a massive and modern sports training facility in Rosales, Pangasinan.

The 20-hectare PSC-owned athletes training ground will be known as the Philippine Sports Training Center according to Ramirez.

If construction starts in the middle of 2019 and follow the blueprint of the New Clark City Sports Complex in Capas, Tarlac, Ramirez estimated that the training center would be finished by 2020.

Ramirez added that the PSC is aiming to build 14 regional training centers nationwide in cooperation with local government units and the Department of Education to improve the country’s grassroots sports programs.

“You cannot speak about grassroots sports programs if you don’t have regional training centers,” said Ramirez.
