PSC donates sports equipment to MSU

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) through Chairman William I. Ramirez donated sports equipment to the College of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (CSPEAR) and its K.I.D.S. in S.H.A.P.E. (Kids Involvement in Developing Skills in Sports, Health Activities, Physical Exercise) last April 19, 2008. The donation consists 150 balls (50 soccer, 50 basketball and 50 volleyball), 50 sets of chessboards, and 150 medals (50 gold, 50 silver and 50 bronze) requested by Prof. Henry C. Daut, Dean of the college of SPEAR for its extension program and summer sports for the youth of Marawi Lanao del Sur.

In a simple turnover ceremony, Prof. Daut received the donations from Chairman Ramirez in the presence of Mr. Joseph Encabo, (Executive Assistant) at the PSC Athletes Dorm at Philsports, ULTRA, in Pasig City. The equipment will be used by the college of SPEAR in promoting sports for all in the province of Lanao del Sur.

Similarly, the equipment was turned over to Dr. Medarda L. Naga, Vice-Chancellor for Research and Extension of MSU and to Prof. Mila A. Gallardo, CSPEAR Research and Extension Coordinator during the Closing Program of the KIDS in SHAPE last April 30, 2008 at the Dimaporo Gymnasium, MSU, Marawi City.

With the equipment, the College of SPEAR will be able to strengthen its various extension program that includes: Adopt a School Program, KIDS in SHAPE Program, PET Project (Physical Educators Training), Sports Mobile Program to name a few.

The College of SPEAR in particular and the University in general is very thankful for the continuing support of the PSC to MSU and sports in Mindanao. The Mindanao State University has been a productive partner of the PSC in the promotion and development of sports in Mindanao.

MSU is looking forward to being designated by the PSC as a satellite campus of the Philippine Sports Institute in Mindanao and the establishment of peace through sports in the area.
